چکیده
Abstract The pollution of terrestrial and aquatic environments by petroleum contaminants, especially diesel fuel, is a persistent environmental threat requiring cost-effective environmentally sensitive remediation approaches. Bioremediation one such approach, but dependent on the availability microorganisms with necessary metabolic abilities adaptability. aim this study was to examine microbial community in contaminated site, isolate organisms potentially able degrade hydrocarbons. Through successive enrichment soil from samples an historic site Wietze, Germany, we isolated bacterial consortium using fuel hydrocarbons as sole carbon energy source. 16S rRNA gene analysis revealed dominance Alphaproteobacteria . We further reconstructed total 18 genomes both original sample consortium. metagenome metagenome-assembled show that most abundant genus consortium, Acidocella , possess many genes required for degradation aromatic hydrocarbons, which are often toxic component. This can explain why proliferated all cultures. Therefore, reveals its dominant genus, could serve effective inoculum bioremediation sites polluted or other organic contaminants.

Bacterial hydrocarbon-degrading consortium from Antarctic soils.
Removal of contaminants from polluted environments could be improved by taking advantage of the catabolic capacity of some microorganisms in a process called bioremediation. Nowadays, the use of microbial associations (also called microbial consortia) is gaining attention, because they seem to have a wider degradation spectrum than that exhibited by isolated strains. M10 is a bacterial consorti...

BACKGROUND Bacteria possess a reservoir of metabolic functionalities ready to be exploited for multiple purposes. The use of microorganisms to clean up xenobiotics from polluted ecosystems (e.g. soil and water) represents an eco-sustainable and powerful alternative to traditional remediation processes. Recent developments in molecular-biology-based techniques have led to rapid and accurate stra...

Inoculation with efficient microbes had been proved to be the most important way for the bioremediation of polluted environments. For the treatment of abandoned site of Beijing Coking Chemical Plant contaminated with high level of high-molecular-weight polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (HMW-PAHs), a bacterial consortium capable of degrading HMW-PAHs, designated 1-18-1, was enriched and screened ...
